Built because every tools site looks the same.
Pikowl is browser-based utilities — calculators, converters, generators — built the way I wanted them to work: fast, multilingual, and running entirely on your device. 6 tools live today, on the way to 1,000+.
Why this exists
Most online tools sites feel the same. Heavy pages. English only. Files uploaded to someone else's server. A calculator that should take half a second takes eight.
I started Pikowl because the bar for these tools should be higher. A unit converter should load in under a second. A PDF merger shouldn't need your file to leave your device. A calculator should feel local to whoever's using it, not translated from somewhere else.
How it's different
Who's behind it
Pikowl is built and maintained by Abhishek, an independent developer in Bengaluru, India.
There's no team, no VC funding, no growth team. One person, writing every line of code and every word of copy. The site is supported by display advertising and — eventually — an optional premium subscription for users who want it ad-free.
Methodology
Finance, health, and tax calculators follow published formulas and cite their sources on each tool page. Where standards differ by region (BMI thresholds, tax slabs, grading systems), Pikowl exposes the choice rather than hiding it.
Tools are versioned. When a formula or regulation changes — a new tax slab, an updated RBI rule — the change is noted on the tool's page with a date. Nothing is silently updated.
What Pikowl is not
Pikowl is not financial, legal, medical, or tax advice. The calculators give you a number; the decision is yours, and for anything consequential you should talk to a professional. More on this in the terms of service.
